Tyson's First Concert

Last night we took Tyson to his first concert. It was Kelly's birthday and we thought what better way to celebrate than to get everyone together with the kids and go see Journey live in concert.. I knew this could go either way with Tyson.. Either he'd be bored to pieces and end up throwing grass in the air or he'd absolutely love it!

I figured let's make it a little more fun for grandma (ok the kids) and get everyone silly flower leis and, get grandma a tiara and Tyson can wear a silly Hawaiian hat (which later he decided made a perfect popcorn bowl) Perfect, right?! Okay maybe not so much.. When the opener started, Tyson wasn't having it.. He didn't want to hang out with us. He wanted to sit alone at the top of the hill and not even try to play with his cousins... Grreeat this is going to be a long night and then... BAM!
Not sure what exactly happened but the second opener came on and he was singing along and having fun listening to the Doobie Brothers.. Then on comes Journey and Tyson loses it.. Like crazed hyper Chihuahua ricocheting off of everyone in a 8 years old version of a one person mosh pit! He was the most amusing, cutest thing to watch. He then drifted into every type of concert goer you've ever seen. Went from hyper singing, to wide eyes mouth open watching, to arms up singing along, to video taping for 15 minutes straight to second wind hyper maniac, to "Can I sit on your shoulders?" He absolutely had the best time and I'm so happy that we chose Journey to be his first real concert and hope I can vividly remember the look on his face, the energy he brought and the memories made forever

Tyson rolling in the dough!

Tyson had a book report this week and he decided to do his report on 'Tony & The Pizza Champions'

For his project we decided to use Tony's recipe for pizza dough and learned how to toss the pizza dough. Tyson would show his classmates how to toss the dough and of course we sent them all home with dough and he shared some hot pizza with his class.

Here's Tyson instructing just how it's done!

Road Trip With Tyson

This morning Kyle got us up at 6 AM for our family road trip to Walla Walla for Kyle's grandfather's 85th birthday. We all pile in the car by 6:30 and put the car in reverse.

"You know when I get waked up, I don't go back to sleep"

This should start for an interesting trip. Two sleepy parents and one bright eyed and chatty little boy!

"Do you know why the middle finger is the bad finger?"

"Because he's the tallest and he makes fun of all the other fingers because they're so small"

"But really mom all your fingers are special and you should love them all the same"

Hearts melts...
Then my sweet 6 year old starts a very serious conversation about people that don't have hands or legs and how incredibly special they are in their own way and that God created them in their very own special way. Or our friend's at school that have different colored skin. They might look different but they're all God's gifts and he made everyone perfect just the way the should be. No one was made by mistake. That everyone's special looks and abilities make them all special and perfect in their own way...

Wow.... This kid. Wise beyond his years

Tyson's surgery day

Here I am in the waiting room while Tyson has his oral surgery. His dentist noticed he had an extra tooth near the rod of his mouth that was growing the wrong way (toward his nasal cavity)  so today's the day he has it removed.  Tyson of course requested that he get to keep the tooth so he could give it to the tooth fairy.  But he wasn't so sure about the anesthesia.  (honestly neither was I)

We were giving an anxiety pill to give Tyson an hour before surgery.  He kept telling me he'd take it but he didn't want to swallow it because he didn't want to get sleepy.  Reluctantly he took it and off we went.

Silly things Tyson said while loopy

"mom why is our car in half? "

" how did you get three purses? "

" my eyes aren't working good right now "

" how did they get two doors? "

" mom you're driving over the line " (yup always a backseat driver)

He wasn't quite sure why I needed to carry him and he couldn't walk and he kept trying to stand up while I was checking in.  Poor guy  stood up once and said" whoa I feel so heavy " when asked to sit down he kind of fell into his chair like a drunk guy on his 21st birthday.

Praying for an easy surgery with a fast and smooth recovery.

We took him to a last meal before he is on a liquid diet for a few days at El Gaucho last night.  He always enjoys helping make the Caesar salad and getting the flaming sword!
